uSDX HF Transceiver V2

I bought this radio to use on my beacon monitoring station.
Two radios have now had receiver failures. I would not reccommend these radios.

SOME FIXES THAT MAY HELP

  • Earth the BNC antenna connector to the radio chassis.
  • Add R23 - 100K Ohm resistor. (Under the speaker) This helped the quality of TX audio for me.
  • Adding a 47nf capacitor between pins 1 and 6, did not help with my radio. (see youtube "fix"" videos)

FTDI USB to Serial TTL

I tried serial connections using USB to COM port adapters and PCIe serial cards with no luck.
Using the FTDI worked.

Make sure the RX from the serial port goes to TX on the radio and TX from the serial port goes to RX on the radio.

uSDX COM Settings

  • The uSDX is configured to use Kenwood TS-480 serial settings.
    38400 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity.
  • N1MM Users: TS-480, COMx, 38400 8N1, DTR always off, RTS always off.
  • WSJT Setting: TS-480, COMx, 38400 8N1, DTR and RTS left blank
  • OMNI Rig Setting: TS-480, COMx, 38400 8 none 1, DTR low, RTS low, 500 4000
